Glorious sunshine and blue skies were enjoyed by cricketers and supporters at Harrow School, Bangkok, Thailand where sixteen teams were competing today on Day 2 of the Chaophya Park Thailand International Cricket Sixes.

The flood waters affecting parts of Thailand and Bangkok have thankfully had no detrimental effect so far on the annual tournament and the large ground is in excellent condition.

Fourteen matches were played today as the ground saw plenty of cricket action with teams battling for position in round one of the tournament which was completed today.

The Lanka Lions posted the highest total of the day, 115 runs, as they comfortably defeated High Life from India by 90 runs. Sampath (32*) and Kaushal (35*) both retired after smashing the High Life bowling to all parts of the ground. High Life could muster just 25/4 in reply due to some excellent Lankan bowing especially by Sampath who took two wickets for 2 runs.

There was an entertaining Thailand derby between the Pattaya Thoroughbreds and tournament hosts the Southerners of Bangkok. Batting first the Southerners scored 57/1 helped by some wayward Pattaya bowling. The Thoroughbreds reached 47/2 at the end of their allotted 5 overs, Lindon top scoring with 16*.

The Drunken Lions had a comfortable victory over CBB AA. The Lions smashed 90 runs off the CBB bowling, Mohan retiring on 35*. There was plucky batting from the CBBers as both openers - Tom (16*) and Dianne (11*) carried their bats against economical Lions bowling.

Lamma CC from Hong Kong eased past MG7 from Kuwait with 2 balls to spare without losing a wicket in their chase of 49 to win. Andy Scott and Ben Cooper paced their innings perfectly, helped by loose MG7 bowling. Earlier MG7 openers Arun and Mahmood also carried their bats in their innings.

On Friday evening teams had enjoyed a tournament social function at the Crossbar with beer provided by San Miguel.

The three day cricket sixes tournament benefits from support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and is title sponsored by the Chaophya Park Hotel.

Finals day of the Chaophya Park Thailand International Cricket Sixes 2011 starts at 9am on Sunday.
